Since the genocide began on October 7, 2023, Gaza’s education system has faced near-total collapse. Direct attacks on educational institutions, mass displacement of students and teachers, and the conversion of schools into shelters have disrupted learning for an entire generation.
UN reports confirm the severity: decades of educational progress have been undone, with hundreds of schools and universities damaged or destroyed and learning almost entirely suspended across most regions.
This policy brief, developed by the Youth for Integrity project and implemented by Social Development Forum in partnership with the Coalition for Integrity and Accountability (AMAN), documents critical indicators, analyzes structural and human challenges, and proposes actionable recommendations for rebuilding Gaza’s education system in a sustainable manner.
