What Is the Palestinian Youth Barometer?

About the SDF’s Youth Barometer Initiative:

The Palestinian Youth Barometer is a periodic, evidence-driven initiative launched by the Social Development Forum (SDF) to systematically capture the “pulse” of Palestinian youth on social, political, and economic issues. The first wave was introduced in the context of the ceasefire in Gaza, providing initial insights that reflect how young people envision the post-war phase — particularly regarding reconstruction, institutional trust, and future prospects.

Unlike traditional public-opinion polls, the Barometer offers a directional, qualitative analysis, grounded in structured quantitative data. It represents a collective state of youth awareness, rather than a demographic distribution of opinions.

Its purpose is not to produce a final “percentage,” but to illuminate key trends that help local actors and partner institutions understand youth priorities — and where these priorities intersect with broader public policies.

Methodologically sound samples, paired with thoughtful and grounded analysis that reflects the Palestinian context apart from simplified and generalized statistics with limited.

Ongoing waves:

Regular and systematic tracking of how youth perspectives shift as political, social, and economic conditions evolve.

A genuine dialogue with youth:

Young people are not “beneficiaries” or “subjects” of research — they are active partners in analysing the findings and drafting recommendations.

A gateway to public policy:

Findings that can feed intro discussions with decision-makers, civil society organizations, and international partners.
