Digital Advocacy Training for the Rights of People with Disabilities: A step to strengthen the role of NGOs
WASLA center implemented a training program on “Digital Advocacy for the rights of people with disabilities” with the participation of 20 NGOs workers and youth working in disability. The training comes within the framework of upgrading local organizations to support more implementation of digital advocacy campaigns for people with disabilities.
The eight-day training program, launched on October 28, was conducted with 36 training hours, including an expanded presentation of the conceptual and legal framework of the rights of persons with disabilities in Palestine. In addition to extensive training on digital advocacy workflows and a range of digital campaign tools and technologies, with the participation of a range of consultants and WASLA center team. The training program was carried out professionally and effectively and compromised diverse presentation styles, practical applications and the theoretical framework.
In reference to the training, the training and Advocacy coordinator, Yara Alzinati said: “The training is part of an integrated capacity-building program delivered through WASLA to all segments of society to increase the response to disability issues in Palestine.”
Mohammed abo Ouda, one of the participants, said: “A great Training where we were introduced to the rights of people with disabilities and how to plan and implement a digital Advocacy campaign. Also, we learned about digital identity and i’m so excited about employing all my knowledge”.
As for Lima Eliwa, from PCAF, the training “was great where we were introduced the rights of people with disabilities and digital advocacy and identity. I got to know a lot of tool that help me design and edit a video with all the required additions”.
It should be noted that training for digital advocacy and the rights of persons with disabilities is part of the project “Improving the local response to the rights of persons with disabilities in the Gaza Strip” which is implemented by the Social Development Forum, in partnership with the Palestinian Medical Aid Association.
