I Can: Digital Storytelling Training
Within I can project, in partnership with the Italian EducAid Foundation, Social Developmental Forum launched a Digital Storytelling and Social Networks training at the Independent Living Center where the training targeted ten women with disabilities in the basic skills of storytelling and the use of social media.
The idea behind the training came from the need to invest in digital tools for self-expression and empowerment, especially for women with disabilities who rarely find their own digital platforms. The free availability of social media platforms and its ease of use make it the perfect tool for that.
The training spanned over 6 days totaling 36 hours and touched on several topics, the most important of which is the proper use of social media , and identifying the most important advantages and characteristics of each platform, and the use of correct images to express personal stories and the basics of storytelling.
The first days of training focused on life and communication skills that worked to break the ice between the participants and encourage them to share their personal stories, after which the women moved to learn in detail about the different social media platforms and their content, and how to create it in an attractive way. The last training section covered storytelling and writing skills.
On her participation in the training, Duaa Qashlan expressed: “I learned how to make good and strong content and use the various platforms during this training and will use all these skills to attract more followers.”
It is noted that training comes within I Can project: Independence, Capability, Autonomy, iNclusion, implemented by EducAid in partnership with Social Development Forum, Gaza Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and El- Amal Rehabilitation Society- Rafah and funded by the Italian Agency for Development and Cooperation.
