Goo School program is not only a training chance I had but also a start to my community activities
Gazan youth suffer from many difficulties and problems in drawing their future plans, in addition to blurring their vision when looking at what is about to come. All these problems are a result of the general situation surrounding them, so they are constantly confused about what opportunities await them.
“Go School” program was not just a training opportunity that I got, but a start to my community activities. It gave me many other opportunities to participate in training and voluntary work. In addition, through it I built social relationships with ambitious people who have the same interests as me and helped me to quickly adapt to the trainers.
I have never been a public speaker, and I did not have the guts to do so. Therefore, my main goal in joining the program was to get more involved in the community and build new relationships. These relationships differ from my surroundings. However, what [Go School] achieved for me was much deeper than that.
Now I become able to carry out youth initiatives and dialogue with the decision makers in accountability sessions. This was done by simulating community accountability sessions with decision makers within the training days. We were divided into groups according to the governorates, posing a problem from each governorate, defining its axes and then discussing them to search for a solution.
Moreover, the Go School program played a major role in identifying a set of new terms about civil society and its most important pillars, how to strengthen the relationships between citizens and municipalities through youth initiatives, in addition to introducing them to the municipalities’ response to these initiatives and their cooperation with the initiators.
To conclude, I am very happy for being a member of The Social Developmental Forum’s family, and for having an opportunity to be a one of Go School Trainees. This is the new opportunity that constituted a turning point in my life whether on the cultural, social and other levels. Therefore, I advise all young people to always seek and search for themselves.
