TOT training: a new step to build youth’s capacities
With the participation of 22 young people from Yalla Change’s previous seasons graduates, SDF launched Training of Trainers- TOT training in a step to graduate young people possessing all the technical skills to lead and train their peers in various youth and community training programs.
7 training days combined theoretical and practical training aimed at giving young people all the skills necessary to find their way to become competent trainers capable of transferring knowledge and experiences in a scientific and systematic way. The training was opened with a conceptual approach to the training process. Together youth learned many new terms such as training, awareness, approach and methodology, and banking and liberal education.
The camp also touched on the stages of the training process, methods and tools for assessing needs, and skills for preparing training content and formulating agendas and training matrices, which will positively reflect on the research and awareness skills of young people.
“SDF seeks to invest in youth and provide them with spaces and enhance their participation opportunities. Training of trainers comes within the Forum’s interventions with young people to provide young people with sufficient skills to lead their peers in training programs within the Forum’s activities or external activities.” Hadeel Abu Zaid, Yalla Change project coordinator.
Naji Naji expressed his participation in the training saying, “The ToT training experience was special for me because it gave me many distinctive skills and gave me the ability to manage any training course correctly”
Participant Mai Al-Sous also said, “I always imagined myself standing in trainer’s place, and I had a great passion for training, but I did not know the way to achieve my dream. TOT training showed me the way achieve my ambition and desire.”
The training offered fun learning environment for young people, and we hope that it will be the first step to graduate a new generation of young trainers, and to enhance their community participation.
It is worth noting that this training comes within the activities of the fourth season of the Yalla Change program – Promoting the capabilities of youth as leaders of change in Gaza’s communities in partnership with Norwegian People’s Aid – NPA.
