Job Vacancy: Head of Projects

Position: Head of projects
Location: Palestine – Gaza Strip
Duration: 12 months (Full-time, extensible)

Social Developmental Forum (SDF):
A Palestinian NGO, established in 2006 by a group of young activists to create a professional community model capable of delivering community-based services by optimizing digital and non-digital resources to achieve a human-centered developmental vision in accordance with the Rule of Law and civic values.

Head of projects at the SDF:
SDF’s head of projects will work dedicatedly with the director general to oversee all SDF’s projects in the Gaza Strip, aiming to ensure that projects are running smoothly and achieving expected results, outputs, and outcomes promptly. He/she will provide guidance and support to SDF’s operational units and working groups to foster integrated collaboration. Furthermore, the head of projects is expected to maintain and improve SDF’s local partnerships and collaboration with stakeholders.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee effective implementation of SDF’s projects and operations in a timely manner to ensure they meet technical and managerial standards.
  • Follow up on progress within SDF’s projects. This includes developing and overseeing detailed actions and monitoring plans to achieve efficient outcomes.
  • Mobilize projects resources through efficient planning, implementation, and monitoring. This includes tracking expenditures and budgets in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
  • Prepare periodic reports as required for SDF’s internal and external use (quarterly, semi-annually, and annually.)
  • Ensure all projects logistics are in-house in collaboration with projects coordinators and operations manager.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to SDF’s staff members when required.
  • Map and clarify SDF’s staff responsibilities in collaborative projects and activities to ensure effective coordination and implementation.
  • Foster communication and active participation of all SDF’s projects coordinators.
  • Provide all necessary information, figures, and insights to MEAL, communication, and advocacy officers.
  • Manage SDF’s relations with the local community, partners, and stakeholders to provide support for SDF’s projects and establish collaborative networks to promote SDF’s local and international presence.
  • Participate in preparing all proposals, budgets, reports, and other useful documents.
  • Contribute to effective strategic planning.

Eligibility:

1. Academic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (entry-level) or equivalent in business administration, project management, sociology, or relevant. A master’s degree holder is preferred.


2. Experience:

  • Five years of experience in project management (entry-level) within non-governmental, humanitarian, or relief sectors.
  • Adequate experience in working with international donors, with a proven ability to write large-scale project proposals and budgets.
  • Experience in working within inter and intra-related task forces, majors, environments, and diverse geographic and cultural atmospheres.

3. Technical Skills:

  • High level of proficiency in short-term and strategic planning and organization.
  • Profound analytical skills in analyzing, understanding, and linking inputs together to provide evidence-based advice and guidance.
  • Proficient use of project management software such as (Trello, Asana, Ms. Project, and Google Drive)
  • Ability to mobilize SDF’s human, tangible, and intangible resources to achieve strategic goals.
  • Adequate skills in financial planning, budgeting, and expense tracking.
  • Strong organizational skills; setting priorities, performing tasks on time, being able to work independently, in a group, and with a diverse, simultaneous set of tasks.

4. Personal skills:

  • Authentic leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teammates.
  • Effective communication skills both in English and Arabic.
  • Ability to work under pressure, and in evolving atmospheres.
  • Culturally well-educated to be able to include and understand all community segments.
  • Problem-solving and timely decision-making.
