Yalla Change youth implement Athar initiative at Faisal Bin Fahd Secondary School
Continuing the activities of the third season of the Yalla Change training program, the youth implemented Athar initiative at Faisal Bin Fahd Secondary School in Jabalia. The idea of the initiative centered on creating a safe and beautiful space for the implementation of extracurricular activities for school students.
The youth have held a number of meetings with the headmistress of the school and related authorities such as the Ministry of Education to agree on the basic steps and stages of implementation. The first step was to clean the place and prepare it and define needs.
The team started cleaning the walls to decorate them with drawings and colors, and to install and equip the shade block. During this stage, wood was recycled, and turned into wooden benches by environmentally friendly means. In the last stage of the initiative, the youth planted the place with trees and planted a large area of it with natural grass, so that the place would be a green space that helps students carry out their activities.
Hadeel Abu Zaid, a community mobilizer at Social Developmental Forum, said of Athar initiative: “Stemming from the good education goal of sustainable development, our intervention in Faisal bin Fahd School was by creating a colorful educational space for extracurricular activities by recycling tools, drawing murals, and games that enhance students’ knowledge about Sustainable development goals”
“We thank Yalla Change young people for their tremendous efforts to work in our school. They made a change in this place after it was neglected. It became a suitable and good place for the environment especially by the use recycled materials” said the school headmistress.
The initiative team opened the space and implemented a number of interesting educational activities with school students, attended by representatives from the Ministry of Education.
