Over 240 displaced families receive fresh vegetable parcels
The Social Developmental Forum (SDF) has distributed over 240 fresh vegetable parcels to a group of the most vulnerable displaced Palestinian families in the middle and southern areas of the Gaza Strip. This intervention aims to support displaced families amid the challenging food security situation. It is part of the project “Enhancing Access to Food Assistance for Palestinians in Gaza Affected by the Ongoing Israeli Aggression” implemented by SDF in partnership with the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA).
The distribution process went smoothly in the SDF’s warehouses in Deir Al-Balah, ensuring that beneficiaries could safely collect their parcels and that the SDF team validated the beneficiary’s identity before releasing the parcel.
Youth-led efforts
SDF’s youth network actively participated in the distribution process, overseeing the operation, assisting beneficiaries, and handing out the parcels, especially to women and the elderly.
“The parcel is an immense help to me and my family; it mitigates our burden, providing relief to my family and joy to my children.” Hadeel Al-Bardawil, beneficiary
Skyrocketing prices amid harsh conditions
The vegetable parcel eases our burden amid the skyrocketing prices. We can’t afford even small amounts. While the assistance doesn’t fully meet our needs, it alleviates our strain.

The distribution took place amidst severe hardships faced by the displaced community in the Gaza Strip. A hunger crisis and soaring prices have persisted for over two months due to the closure of crossings and the scarcity of humanitarian aid and food items.
The vegetable distribution is part of our urgent response to the needs of IDPs as their suffering mounts. The project will target more displaced families who have submitted relief appeals to the SDF in the coming period. Through the project, we aim to support nutritional needs amidst high prices and limited resources.

Nawal Meqdad is a 36-year-old displaced from Rafah. She is now displaced in south Gaza. After receiving her parcel, she said, “I have 12 children. This parcel will feed them and help us because we can’t afford to buy it. This is an important contribution amidst the extreme conditions.”
This distribution is part of SDF’s “Together For Palestine” national relief response program, which aims to address the needs of IDPs amid the ongoing Israeli genocidal war. Since October 2023, the SDF has implemented hundreds of relief interventions that aim to promote the resilience of the displaced community in the Gaza Strip.
