Reem Al-Khalili: Yalla Change strengthened my self-confidence
I never planned to be part of a youth team. For me, a girl who has passed secondary school and is now attending university, I was just thinking about my academics and university specialization until I came across Yalla Change announcement on Facebook. I did hear some of my friends talk about Yalla Change which got my curious to know more especially since they talked about it with great admiration.
I applied and was accepted in the program. It was then that I learn the full name of the program. It was promoting youth role as leaders of change in Gaza communities. We immediately integrated into training topics that played a role in building my skills. Life skills training marked the beginning for me to engage with groups. I became more interactive and more receptive to others and differences. I was able to express my thoughts to others and talk to them without fear or shame.
And my participation in the initiatives also helped me to enhance my confidence in myself and enhance the confidence of society in its youth, and now I carry my experience and convey it everywhere I go, as it is a worthwhile experience, and I invite my colleagues and those in my age to join the Yalla Change and similar programs as it represents a wonderful stage and experience in young people’s lives.
Thanks Yalla Change
