SDF signs a partnership agreement with Al-Aqsa University

On March 17th 2019, Social Developmental Forum signed a partnership agreement with Al-Aqsa University in Gaza. The signing was attended by Kamal Al-Sharafi, the president of the university, Mahmoud Zant, Executive Director of the Forum and a group of academic and administrative staff from the University and the Forum at the university’s headquarters in Gaza city.
The agreement comes in line with enhancing the Forum’s role in working with higher education institutions in Palestine and developing youth programs within a comprehensive approach in addition launching one of the Forum initiative on the university’s ground, Youth Village Initiative. The initiative aims to rehabilitate an open space at Al-Aqsa University in southern Gaza, as a small village equipped to implement extracurricular activities for young people in the Gaza Strip within the Yalla Change project.
Al-Sharafi stressed the university’s readiness to support initiatives that serve youth issues, aligning with our Palestinian traditions and achieving vital outcomes and positive impact on the community. He pointed out that the Youth Village Initiative is the first step in a series of youth’s projects.
Mahmoud Zant, Executive Director of the Social Forum, said that the agreement was developed to enhance the opportunities of young people by creating spaces for interaction and developing creative ideas. This led the Forum to sign a memorandum of understanding with Al-Aqsa University and to support local initiatives and activities. Youth Village aims to create a free educational space for students’ activities and a space to implement the practical aspects of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports courses. It will also be a place that brings together young people from different regions in various activities, in addition to promoting the values of voluntary work.
