The Social Developmental Forum commemorates the International Youth Day
The Social Developmental Forum (SDF) commemorated the International Youth Day and highlighted the significance of continuous support and investment in the Palestinian youth. This segment has proved to be effective and capable of leading positive change in the community. Thus, all stakeholders are mandated to provide all opportunities and prospects for them and overcome the obstacles and challenges facing them, in order to unleash their aspirations.
On this occasion, SDF urged the Palestinian decision-makers to adapt inclusive policies on a larger scale in the Palestinian community, and to focus on involving youth in developing strategic policies and programs, especially those related to youth issues, to ensure effective representation for them and addressing their needs and priorities in line with international agreements that ensured their rights.
In conjunction with this celebration, SDF released an artwork named “The Journey of Your Dreams”, which serves as a positive impetus for Palestinian youth, hoping for a future in which youth’s aspirations are realized when preceded by dedicated work, diligence, and investment of opportunities. The song also sheds light on the right of young people to a dignified and safe life, and the supportive environment that fosters these capabilities, dreams, and aspirations, and at the same time urges young people to boost their skills and energies that are capable of influencing and improving their reality.

August 12 is annually marked and celebrated as the International Youth Day. For this year, the United Nations identified the theme “Developing youth skills suitable for the green economy for a sustainable world.” As the transition towards a green and climate-friendly world has become critical, in response to the global climate crisis, as well as to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
It is worth mentioning that youth constitute more than one-fifth of the demographics of the Palestinian society, according to a recent report issued by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), with a population of 1.19 million young women and men (18-29 years old); By 22% of the total population in Palestine, by mid-2023, 22% in the West Bank and 21% in the Gaza Strip.
