Yasmine’s experience in digital counseling sessions
Yasmine Mohana describes the stages of her development from just a user to a content creator that enhances her digital presence by managing corporate pages.
Yasmine Mohana, a 22-year-old youth activist, I participated in many community events and constantly striving to develop my skills. I was one of the ones selected to participate in the digital counseling sessions related to increasing the digital competency of NGOs, which helped me greatly in increasing my digital knowledge.
I received a number of trainings related to digital advocacy and digital presence, but these trainings were not the same, and this made my experience different that during the mentorship sessions I applied digital advocacy plans on the Palestine Future Children’s Foundation page that I was working on running within the scope of the counseling sessions activity. In addition, these sessions enabled me to learn more about digital concepts and terminology, and how to use digital technologies optimally.
Over a continuous seven-month period, my colleagues and I underwent intensive training on digital performance and techniques that help to increase digital competence, through a series of theoretical sessions related to the most important concepts and technical terms and other practical sessions through which the theoretical aspect was applied using new tools and techniques. As it is the first time that I go through the experience of working with NGOs working in the disability sector, but my experience describes it as successful to the point of distinction.
Since the first day, I have been striving to prove myself, invest my energy and my passion for learning new skills and applying them on the page of the Palestine Future Foundation for Childhood, which I have assigned to manage to apply to it what I learned during the sessions in order to achieve optimal digital performance for this institution. Indeed, this experience was positively reflected, whether on the level of my personal performance or on the organization’s performance in general, as the institution’s digital presence became better and had a great deal of interaction by followers and an increase in the rate of access to the page’s content in addition to the fact that there was a clear digital identity for the institution.
I can describe my experience accordingly. “Before the mentoring sessions, I had little knowledge of managing pages on social media platforms and some simple techniques that are commonly used among activists and influencers, but after these sessions I became more capable of using new digital technologies. I got to know more about tools I did not know about before that helped produce professional digital content and enabled me to facilitate the management of pages on social media platforms, and also I learned how to write digital blogs on the website and how to properly promote them, which made me from just a user of social media pages to a professional manager of these pages and a distinctive content creator.”
A unique experience led by Yasmine, who is sure that every stage of her life must be fruitful, many skills and knowledge are gained, as between acquisition and knowledge lies success!
“A great knowledge has been added to me after this experience, which I consider a distinctive addition to my CV, but this result I obtained and this progress that I have achieved would not have been achieved without my constant endeavor and diligence in applying all the observations that were directed to us by Wasla staff, who is keen on providing the best ways and tools to develop our skills.”
This is how Yasmine concluded her experience, thanking SDF for giving her this opportunity, and wishing that she would always have more progress.
