19 Young Leaders participate in intensive training on Humanitarian Relief Standards during emergencies

A group of 19 members of the SDF’s youth network participated in a training on principles and best practices of humanitarian work during emergencies, held over six days in the Middle Area of the Gaza Strip. Led by proficient trainers, the training is part of the “Youth Networks Collaborating for Enhanced Integrity and Community Participation” project, implemented by the Social Developmental Forum (SDF) in partnership with AMAN Coalition Transparency Palestine.

During the training, participants were introduced to the fundamentals of transparency and integrity, emergency humanitarian work standards and best practices, and international humanitarian concepts based on global standards. The program also entails application methods through community interventions, such as initiatives, peer education, workshop design, communication, and presentation skills.

The six days were filled with energy, engagement, and active learning. Aiming to foster youth’s ability to make change. Participant’s commitment and determination to get the maximum out of the program despite Gaza’s current situation in Gaza was noticeable and inspiring.

He added, “This training is very crucial. It introduces youth to global humanitarian standards, while also guiding them on the fundamentals steps for combating corruption and enhancing transparency within humanitarian relief. It’s a significant effort that must be utilized.”

Youssef Helles, a member of the SDF’s youth network shared: “What an insightful learning experience! we learned the core principles of humanitarian work, forms of corruption, and best practices to foster integrity and transparency during emergencies.”

The training highlighted a critical matter that we currently endure. I gained valuable skills and insights; I have become aware and prepared to transfer this knowledge to my peers.”

The 21-year-old IT student added: “I delved into concepts I had never known before. The training opened my eyes to the possibility of enhancing integrity and transparency in Gaza.”

Concluding the training, participants presented a series of proposed initiatives they had developed as during the training course. These were reviewed by a mandated committee represented by SDF, AMAN coalition, and trainers staff. These initiatives are set to be implemented shortly, offering youth the opportunity to walk the talk in the ongoing emergency efforts in Gaza.
