Meeting with a poet Alaa Al-Ghoul within Effective Writers project at Gaza

Social Development Forum-SDF has organized a literary meeting with Social Development Forum-SDF has organized a literary meeting with the Palestinian poet Alaa Al-Ghoul in Latirna restaurant at Gaza City Wednesday morning as a part of a project entitled “Effective Writers” that aims to promoting the abilities of young writers with disabilities. The project is implemented within SouthMed CV Program/working together for the public value of culture in the southern Mediterranean that is funded by the European Union.

Al-Ghoul said: “My poetic beginnings was at the age of exactly 18, and my friend was the first person heard and encouraged me to continue my poetic life, it is not easy to write a poem. At first the writer does not think about perfect or which his writings acceptable or not, the right is to think about yourself and throw it in your writing, and the most difficult thing that brings the writer to failure is the dependence on the laws and rules of poetry in early stage.
He added that “The writer should have encyclopedia of knowledge to transfer it to others through his literary ideas and the access to others literature and cultures.”
Al-Ghoul commended the writings of young writers with disabilities who participated in the meeting, and he said “There is no disability literature but the mind literature, and the production does not have any relation with the body or movement but elated-minded person who wants to write literature.
He stressed that the writings of PWDs, which was read surpassed those of people in full mental and health capacity, and he surprised their writings, sense and philosophy.
He said that Allah put creativity of a particular field in every person, but how can a person discover that creativity?
Human suddenly discovered it through attitude or certain event happened to him then he innovates documents.
Al-Ghoul said: “The technology has a significant impact on literature, a long time ago it was difficult to publish a poem or novel through newspapers and magazines and they was restricted by standards of publishing, but today everyone has the right to publish his writings because of the rapid spread in the use of Internet and social media tools.
He followed that there is a danger in the use of those tools in terms of evaluating the published literature.
On the other hand, the representative in the Gaza Strip Ayman Ftaiha said that he feels sadness and sorrow about PWDs because there is no competent authorities care about them properly, in spite of the presence of the creations, skills and talents they have.
He expressed happiness for his presence at this meeting, which gave him the chance to hear some of the poems and poetic thoughts of the participants, and he thanked all those in charge of meeting.
It is worth mentioning that this meeting was part of a group of literary meeting implemented by the Social Developmental Forum – SDF in Gaza Strip and West Bank with a team of a Palestinian authors within the “Effective writers” project to promote the exchange of experiences and to meet the Palestinian writers.
